Screenings at Borderlines Film Festival - The Courtyard, Hereford

The Close in Living Memory – Hereford Cathedral Close Oral Reminiscences
Thursday 31st March 2011 6.15-7.45pm- £4

This film brings to us many of the stories and events that have been lived out in and around one of Hereford’s most significant public spaces. Tales of ghosts, royal picnics in the rain, rice pudding, playing football with medieval skulls, VE celebrations and buskers. With beautiful archive images, great characters and fascinating stories – if you thought the close was just a place to pass through to get to town, think again!

The screening will be followed by a Q+A session with participants from the film.

The Close in Living Memory: Learning Zone – Bringing history to life
Thursday 31st March 2011 4-30-5.45pm – Free event

A chance for Herefordshire schools teachers to experience the huge educational potential of this project. St. James CE primary and Lord Scudamore Foundation and Catcher Media have created
‘A Journey Around The Close’ and ‘World War 2 in Herefordshire’. These films provide new learning materials that will give pupils a great introduction to local history and World War 2. Join us for the films, see some intergenerational work in action and receive a free DVD and activity pack. You will also have the opportunity to talk directly to the creators of the resources. This event is also open to the general public.

DarK Water nominated for award

We found out yesterday that Dark Water a Mediabox project we made with pupils from Sneyd School in Walsall has been nominated for best sci-fi/horror category at the Limelight Film and Arts Awards 2010. The award ceremony is on Thursday, July 8 in London-fancy do tuxes all round.

We have been having great fun playing with… oh and filming puppets for a new resource for 5-7 year olds about growing up. Many different voices, many different puppets and many different uncomfortable angles to work the puppets….

Hereford Cathedral Close

We have been out and about for the last couple of weeks filming and interviewing peoples reminiscences about events and happenings in the Close over the last 80 or so years. Ghosts, chorister baptisms (unofficial), bishops on the helter skelter, living on the close now, buskers and the homeless- it’s rich pickings. Photos to follow.
